fundamental (universal?) truths

the other day in a newsletter, spencer asked if there universal truths. it prompted me to start thinking about if i have some that i believe in. the two that came to mind first are:

remembering my eloquence

last week, i had the honor of participating in the gathering (aka wedding or marrying) of two people who are extremely dear to me. one of my closest friends and her partner: let’s call them j & b. the reason i’m writing is to remember something that happened that i have already been trying to downplay.

pathways out of asking 'what do you do?'

if you know me well, you know that i hate the question “what do you do?” the reasons for that hate are myriad and i wrote some of those thoughts up a few years ago. some reasons i’d add to that are:
