i go back on forth on this almost daily. actually, probably more often than that. some days i’m like “anyone who voted for trump is not worth my strategic thinking. if you only need 3.5% of a population to move an issue, i’m just gonna focus on that.” other days i’m like “the only way we are going to get out of this is to build such a huge movement that it’s impossible to fail. changing culture is the root problem here and that doesn’t happen by only looking at people who already agree with you.”

the other day my friend, maureen, and i had a crazy long conversation and one of the things that came up was jamila’s recent talk at the media lab. that led to talking about impeaching trump. and i’m worried.

so it’s been close to a week since launching the alternative futures project. the launch post pushed on saturday, feb 11 and the first story (mine) went out on tuesday. some interesting things have happened, but nothing crazy.

yesterday morning, while on my way in to work, i had a day of making crazy thought connections. sometimes i doubt why i go back and forth between reading “pop” books (like resilience and imagine) and more grounded, radical, theory-based books (like all about love and pedagogy of the oppressed). days like yesterday remind me of why going back and forth is helpful. this post is gonna be a little stream of consciousness and quick, but here goes!

ok this is a bit of a stretch, but i’m gonna put it out there anyways. i think facebook and twitter have begun their deaths. i’m not the first one to say this, but several factors contribute to me feeling strongly about this now.
